This is Mayor Tenke with a Community Update.
Our downtown restaurants will have additional outdoor seating on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. I encourage all to support our local businesses, but please remember to continue to be vigilant with social distancing and wearing masks. If you have any questions about who is participating in the outdoor seating downtown, please visit the Glen Cove Downtown BID’s Facebook page.

Wearing a mask has been proven to decrease the transmission of COVID-19.
- By not wearing a mask, you put more than just yourself at risk: you may be infected and asymptomatic and transmit the virus to your friends, family, elderly parents and grandparents, and people with chronic and serious illness.
- People should wear masks in public in any instance where they cannot maintain adequate social distancing.
Spikes in the reported cases of COVID-19 can lead to potential business shutdowns. - An increase in COVID-19 cases is bad for our physical and economic health. Any backsliding could be devastating to our businesses.
- Please respect merchants and businesses that ask people to wear masks when entering their establishment.
On a different note, the Police Department has reported an increase in fireworks related noise and disturbance calls. Please refrain from these activities as they are inherently dangerous, are disrespectful to your neighbors and are AGAINST THE LAW. If you are caught with fireworks, you can face a possible penalty ranging from a fine to jail time. This year has been tough enough, please respect your neighbors and the City.
I also like to mention that Morgan Park and Pryibil’s Beach will remain open until 8:45 p.m. so that our residents can enjoy the sunsets.
And lastly, I will be providing another update within the next few days regarding summer camps, reopening of playgrounds and summer youth sports programs.
Please listen for those updates. As always, continue to stay safe and stay healthy. Thank you.
