Glen Cove Named 10th Dumbest City in New York

Patch regrets to inform Glen Cove residents they might not be as smart as they think they are, according to a study by RoadSnacks.

This vibrant city found on Long Island’s North Shore is apparently the No. 10 dumbest city in New York.

Glen Cove is “one of the last places in New York that you’d want to start a Book Of The Month Club,” the website says.

With a population of 27,161, here’s why RoadSnacks believes Glen Cove isn’t the brightest crayon in the box:

• Adults Without High School Diploma: 20.5 percent
• Teenage High School Dropouts: 9.8 percent

Both of these stats rank in the bottom 15 percent for cities in New York.

Hey, it could be worse: you could be considered the dumbest city on Long Island. That honor was given to Freeport, ranked as the No. 8 dumbest city in New York by RoadSnacks.

The dumbest city in the entire state was found to be Monticello due to the city’s high rate of teenage high school dropouts.

How RoadSnacks determined the dumbest cities in New York:

• Percentage of the city’s population with less than a high school education (Age 25+)
• Percentage of high school dropouts (Ages 16-19)

It’s important to note that RoadSnacks compared cities with populations greater than 5,000, leaving only 169 cities in New York to rank. The website also compared graduation rates of the entire population, not just the current rates for high schoolers
