GLEN COVE, NY — Without community leaders, Glen Cove wouldn’t hum along nearly as smoothly as it does. We’d miss their contributions in big and small ways.
Patch has partnered with T-Mobile to recognize these often unsung community leaders and celebrate their contributions. This submission comes from Roni Jenkins, who nominated Lisa Forgione.

What does the community leader do? Chairwoman of the Glen Cove St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee, a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, and a leader of the Irish Feis and Festival committee
Why do you believe the community leader should be recognized or honored? LAOH Division 8, welcomed Lisa as a member in 2007. She worked her way up to President, Glen Cove Parade Chairwoman since 2015, and currently Nassau County LAOH FFAI Representative, and secretary for the Nassau County Fest. A Parishioner and volunteer at St. Patrick’s Church since birth.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the community hero? Lisa Forgione Nassau County LAOH Woman of the year 2023 To a 4th generation Glen Cover, Lisa Bartley Forgione was born to Buzzy and Rosemary (Reilly) who shared their love with sisters, Rosemary and Catherine.
Lisa’s maternal grandfather, Thomas Reilly arrived in New York at the age of 16 from County Cavan. He had wonderful stories of his younger years in Ireland, such as how the horses were so big, you could walk under them. Maternal grandmother Mary McGinn Bartley came over from Sligo with a never ending brogue and lovely Irish quotes that are kept in our hearts.
Married to the love of her life Jimmy Forgone Jr for 30 years until his passing, March 15, 2009. Together they had Darla (Rob Rivera), Joseph (Rachel) and Lewanna (David Salomon). Her heart is full of love for her grandchildren Robert, Vincent, Aiden and Princess Willow James.

Nassau County LAOH meeting shocked Lisa as they announced her as Nassau County Woman of the Year 2023! Surprised and thrilled to accept this prestigious nomination from her LAOH Sister, Marina O’Neil and sister members, she couldn’t wait to share the news with her family. Lisa is thankful and honored to share this title with so many other Nassau LAOH Sisters who wear this crown.
