Glen Cove Welcomes 3 New Administrators to the District
A new principal, an assistant principal and a director of special education.

New year, new faces.
The Glen Cove Board of Education appointed three new administrators to the district prior to the new school year:
- Benjamin Roberts as principal of Landing Elementary School
- Alexa Doeschner as assistant principal of Glen Cove High School
- Allison Hernandez as the district’s director of special education
More about the new administrators:
- Roberts comes to Glen Cove as the former principal of Arongen Elementary School in the Shenendehowa Central School District for the past five years. He was also assistant principal of Watervliet Elementary School in the Watervliet City School District from 2007 to 2009. Before that, he worked as a fifth grade teacher in the South Colonie Central School District. He has a Bachelor of Science in elementary/early secondary education with a concentration in social studies from SUNY Cortland, a Master of Liberal Studies from Stony Brook University and a School District Administrator certificate from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
- Doeschner, a Glen Cove resident, most recently served as assistant principal and testing and technology coordinator at Sunset Park High School in Brooklyn. She developed curricula, handled disciplinary matters, conducted observations and worked with community members to ensure educational success for students. She received her Bachelor of Arts in biology from Columbia University, a Master of Science in teaching from Pace University and a School Building Leader certificate from Columbia University’s Summer Principal’s Academy. Doeschner also studied medicine at St. George’s University Medical School from 2006 to 2008.
- Hernandez was previously assistant superintendent of special education in the Hempstead Public Schools for two years and director of special education in the Wyandanch Union Free School District from 2006 to 2013. She also served as assistant principal at Glen Cove’s Robert M. Finley Middle School from 2004 to 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Hofstra University, a Master of Arts in special education from Stony Brook University, and School District Administrator and School Administrator & Supervisor certificates from LIU Post.
