Glen Cove YMCA Pre-Schoolers Celebrate Dr. Seuss During Read Across America Day

Children at the Glen Cove YMCA recently celebrated the 19th-Annual National Read Across America Day

Children at the Glen Cove YMCA recently celebrated the 19th-Annual National Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss Day), a nation-wide occasion created to encourage kids to actively engage in reading on Dr. Seuss’ birth date. Children in Miss Rita’s Pre-K class and Miss Kara’s 3 year old class celebrated the occasion by reading the American writers popular books, including “The Cat in the Hat” and had much fun with that!

The YMCA promotes early literacy and made reading a fun and engaging activity for students, who also enjoyed arts and crafts related to the theme of the day and snacking on delicious treats, including “One Fish, Two Fish” themed Jell-O.
