Glen Cove Youth Bureau Offers Summer Employment, Training
Internship meetings and application deadlines are soon approaching.
Glen Cove teens looking to work this summer would do well to explore opportunities at the city’s Youth Bureau.
Each March, the bureau begins training and preparing for its summer youth employment program. The program has three work components: the Assistant and Supervisor Program, the Summer Intern program and the Green Team (GT) program, each designed to meet the work experience needs of the participant.
All applicants must be City of Glen Cove residents.
The Assistant and Supervisor Program is for program alumni who are up to 22 years old.

Summer Interns ages 16 to 18 will be provided with resume writing skills and job interview preparation and business etiquette. Training workshops will be held two nights a week during March, April and May.
Candidates will then be able to apply for summer internship positions with local business partners in June. Only 10 internship positions will be available and up to 20 trainees will be accepted.

SYEP Internship kick-off meeting on Wednesday, March 8 will provide more information on the internship program. It will be held at 7 pm. at the Glen Cove Youth Center, located at 128B Glen St. (enter in the rear of the building). Teens must sign up to attend the meeting by March 1, 2017 by emailing to Jacki Yonick at jyonick@cityofglencoveny.org.
Green Team positions are for teens ages 14-15 year old there are summer Green Team positions are available and applications will be accepted via phone between May 1 and May 5, 2017. Those interested call the Youth Bureau at (516) 671-4600.
