Glen Cove's First Annual Bike Decorating Contest Brings Record Turnout
The Werner family, Rachel Solomon and the Small family all won awards during the Fourth of July celebration.
Glen Cove’s first annual Bike Decorating Contest brought a record turnout to the City’s Fourth of July celebration festivities.
Families took their bikes, trikes, wagons, unicycles and battery-powered vehicles to the streets of downtown Glen Cove and displayed their patriotism for the annual July 4th Children’s Bike Parade.
Kids had the chance this year to paint a unique American Flag that will be displayed at Glen Cove’s City Hall. Winners in three categories were chosen based on their creativity, patriotism and originality.

The winner’s were:
- Most Original: The Werner family
- Most Colorful: Rachel Solomon
- Most Patriotic: The Small family
Winners received a $25 gift certificate to Justin Toys and a certificate from Panera Bread.

Young singers joined Mayor Reggie Spinello and members of City Council in a group singalong of popular patriotic tunes.
