Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club challenged a team of doctors from Northwell Health Glen Cove Hospital to a friendly basketball game which took place at the Club on Wednesday, November 30.
More than 30 participants came together to play basketball and make the evening a fun, competitive and entertaining event for Club members, staff and the hospital team. The Club is grateful to Dominique Walker, Coordinator for Community Outreach at Glen Cove Hospital Northwell Health and the wonderful and enthusiastic volunteers for partaking in the game.
The evening also recognized the Club’s Teen Athletic Coordinator Frank Mickens, affectionately known as “Coach” to Club members. Coach Frank is a lifetime Glen Cove resident and has been a strong supporter and presence at the club for more than 35 years. Coach Frank volunteered his time for nearly 25 years before joining the Club staff as Teen Athletic Coordinator, a position he has held for 10 years. Teen Program Director, Breanna Townsell, who also happens to be Coach Frank’s niece, presented him with a custom Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club basketball jersey. Coach Frank was truly appreciate of the gesture saying, “This is a real nice surprise and very thoughtful. I didn’t expect to ever get anything like this I appreciate it, I really do.”
