GMA Martial Arts Students Recognized by Nassau County Legislature
Three students were honored with certificates from Nassau County during GMA Martial Art's Graduation Ceremony held at St. Patrick's Church.
Glen Cove, New York, May 13, 2016 – Over 150 members from GMA Martial Arts, located at 275 Glen St, gathered next door at St. Patrick’s Church to celebrate the hard work and dedication put in by young martial artists over the last few months. The graduating class demonstrated a variety of martial arts techniques with both power and precision. In addition to technical knowledge, the students were required to show improvement in their behavior at home, focus in school, and overall physical fitness.
After the students performed and prior to belt promotion ceremony, three students were surprised with awards from the Nassau County Legislature. Caleb Oko and Victoria Baboolal were recognized for being excellent role models and volunteering their time by assisting the 3-to-6-year-old karate classes during the past year. Andrew Markasevic was recognized for being a leader both in and out the karate studio by demonstrating impressive athleticism, self-discipline, and genuine humbleness, all admirable qualities in this future teenage Black Belt. The awards were issued by Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton. The next graduation is scheduled for September of 2016.
