GNWPCD Welcomes Students to Tour Facility
North Shore High School Student Visit Local Facility

The Great Neck Water Pollution Control District (GNWPCD) recently welcomed students from North Shore High School, of Glen Head, for a presentation and tour of the sewer district facility. GNWPCD Superintendent Christopher Murphy led an initial discussion with students on the history of wastewater treatment and the environmentally friendly initiatives the District has spearheaded.
Following the presentation, the AP Environmental Science students toured the wastewater treatment plant and its on-site technologies that serve as a model for green infrastructure and sustainability – including the ultraviolet disinfection system, anaerobic digesters, micro turbine systems and the oxidation ditch. The tour is part of the GNWPCD’s commitment to teach the next generation about community health and green technology.
