We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out with children. Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

Here are live theater shows and workshops, guitar lessons, sports activities and a parade. Pick and choose from this week's array of events.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

  • – Where/When: , Friday March 25, 11 a.m. Why Go: Kids 18 months to three years will sing songs, play games and get excited by the colors and movements of the parachute.
  •  – Where/When: 28 Highland Road, Glen Cove, Daily 8:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. Why Go: Have a school-aged child? Register them now for morning and extended day pre-kindergarten program. Two-year-old toddler and three-year-old nursery programs available.  
  • Art Exhibit: Swirls, Waves and Puzzles – Where/When: Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City, Friday March 25. Why Go: Explore the connections between abstract paintings, interactive puzzle art and realism pieces.
  • Beauty and The Beast – Where/When: Broadhallow Theater Company, Children’s Theater, 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, Saturday March 26, 2 p.m. Why Go: Kids will enjoy this reenactment of the Disney Classic tale about the beautiful Belle as she transforms a hideous, hard hearted monster back into a handsome prince and teaches him how to love. Fee: $10.
  • Children’s Self Esteem Group – Where/When: Joan and Arnold Saltzman Community Services Center, Hofstra University, Hempstead Turnpike, Hempstead, Saturday March 26, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Why Go: Geared towards children ages four through nine, the pschoeducational group focuses on building self-esteem and confidence. Registration is required.
  • Giggle Giggle Quack – Where/When: Tiles Center Concert Hall, 720 Northern Blvd, Greenvale, Sunday March 27, 2 p.m. Why Go: Bring your kids to experience the musical based on the children’s book about Farmer Bob’s day on the farm. Fee: $12-20
