Parents and students from Glen Cove High School enjoyed traditional ethnic food and beautifully choreographed dance performances at the school’s inaugural International Night, which was held on Dec. 10.

The multicultural evening began with families having an opportunity to meet with members of local community agencies, including the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club and the Glen Cove Public Library, who shared information about their respective organizations. The group also enjoyed food made by Herenia Padilla’s Spanish Native II students, performances by the Dance Club and a dinner buffet.

Foreign Language and ESL Coordinator Monica Chavez organized the event as a way to reach out to Glen Cove families, who speak English as their second language.

“This is an attempt to foster cultural diversity and multiculturalism as well as create a forum for disseminating and sharing information on the available resources and services in the City of Glen Cove,” Chavez said.
