Kiwanis One Day

A day dedicated to enhancing a community by doing a large scale service project.

Kiwanis club of Glen Cove again celebrates Kiwanis One Day, by gathering volunteers from all over the North Shore to help complete this project.

April 6th, braving a beautiful sunny but cold/windy 1st Saturday of spring, the volunteers gathered at Prybil Beach, Glen Cove to comb the beach, walking along pond side, scanning the parking lot all to find debris to collect.

This year, students from our Middle School Builders Club, advisor Kirsten Kenney and her members, members of our Key Club GCHS lead the students in this cleanup. Along with the students from Carle Place HS, All Staint’s and Holy Child Academy collecting, Kiwanis officials and club members also provided assistance. At the end of the morning the group had collected over 20 bags of trash.

Mayor Spinello stopped by to relay a “personal” thank you to the volunteers and the club for designating this beach as part of our yearly service project.

The group was also contacted by the head of the Glen Cove Parks and Recreation department, thanking them for Job well done!
