Local PGA Club Professional Matt Dobyns Qualifies for 2016 PGA Championship

Local PGA Golf Professional, Matt Dobyns of Fresh Meadow Country Club, New York, will be fulfilling a lifelong dream when he tees it up in the 2016 PGA Championship, July 28-31 at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ. Dobyns is one of 20 PGA club professionals to qualify for the PGA Championship where he will compete alongside defending Champion Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth and some of the greatest golfers in the world, in a Major Championship.

Competing on TOUR each week is the primary job of professional golfers, however, Dobyns is a PGA club professional and his day job responsibilities are vastly different than a PGA TOUR player. His responsibilities consist of teaching lessons, overseeing member programs, executing player development programs and growing the game at the grassroots level, among other professional duties.

This will be Dobyns’ third appearance in a PGA Championship.
