Loggia Glen Cove Honors Scholarship Recipients

and Welcomes a New Member

Loggia Glen Cove #1016 honored scholarship recipients at this past Wednesday night’s monthly Sons and Daughters of Italy meeting. Students honored with scholarships on behalf of the local lodge included Peter Flood who received the Lorenzo Martone Perpetual Scholarship and Gabriella Basile who received the Loggia Glen Cove 1016 Scholarship. There were three recipients of the Loggia Glen Cove 1016 Dante Award for Excellence in Italian including Christian Amorosana, Ventina Ghersi, and Eric Graziosi.

Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck, City Council Members Grady Farnan, Kevin Maccarone, Jack Mancusi, Daniele Fugazy Scagliola, and Marsha Silverman, and County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton joined officers of Loggia Glen Cove #1016 in congratulating the 2023 Scholarship Recipients. State Scholarship recipients included Peter Flood who received the Angelo and Kathryn Grande Scholarship in memory of Rose and Frank Della Ratta, the Angelo and Kathryn Grande Scholarship in memory of Angelina and Ignatius Grande, and the Eda Opulente-Meglio Scholarship; Gabriella Basile who received the Marianna Crescimanno Memorial Scholarship, and the Carmine Cocchiola Memorial Scholarship; Gianni DeRosa who received the Martone Family Scholarship in memory of Lorenzo Martone and the Michael Valente Lodge #2667 Ed Buscemi Memorial Scholarship; and, Antonette Minagro who received the Michael and Elizabeth Carrera Scholarship in memory of Lisa Carrera, the District II Presidents’ Scholarship in memory of Lisa Carrera, and the Agnes and John Funk Scholarship in memory of Sam Di Trapani.

Citations were presented to the award recipients by Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck, County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, and by Councilwoman Danielle Fugazy Scagliola on behalf of State Assemblyman Charles Lavine. The lodge also welcomed a new member, Ann Marie Martinez.

President Joseph A. Gallo, 1st VP Marisa Gambino, 2nd VP Mark Galluccio, and the full board and membership extend their appreciation to all the members in attendance, to the elected officials, and to the volunteers who helped with the meeting.
