Mayor Spinello Joins Proud Parents to Celebrate Karate Graduation

Students of all ages gathered to perform their martial arts moves for family, friends, and the Mayor of Glen Cove at St. Patrick's Church.

Glen Cove, New York, September 25, 2015 – Over 150 members from GMA Martial Arts, located at 275 Glen St, gathered next door at St. Patrick’s Church to celebrate the hard work and dedication put in by young martial artists over the last few months. The graduating class demonstrated a variety of karate techniques with both power and precision. In addition to technical knowledge, the students were required to show improvement in their behavior at home, focus in school, and overall physical fitness.

Mayor Reggie Spinello was present during the ceremony and commended the parents for choosing martial arts lessons for their children. The Mayor thanked Sensei Hender Alvarado and his staff for developing future leaders in our community through the discipline and confidence the children gain through martial arts training. “We sincerely appreciate the Mayor’s presence at our graduation ceremony as well as the good relationship we have with St. Patrick’s Church and once again extend our thanks to Father Daniel Nash for facilitating the use of the church’s cafeteria,” remarked Sensei Hender, owner of the martial arts studio. The next graduation is scheduled for December of 2015.
