Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton Secures Funding to Purchase Long-Awaited Tractor for Nassau County Museum of Art

Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) visited the Nassau County Museum of Art on Wednesday, Sept. 5 to celebrate the arrival of a long-awaited John Deere tractor purchased with $15,000 in county funding secured by the Legislator.

The tractor will be utilized in the maintenance of a 145-acre site that was once part of the Frick “Clayton” estate. Already, the tractor has been especially helpful for removing expanses of invasive porcelain berry vine in wooded areas and preventing its spread to other portions of the grounds.

Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton met with (from left) Monica Reischmann, director of development for the Nassau County Museum of Art; Angela Susan Anton, president of the museum’s board of trustees; groundskeeper John Yaniak; and Charles A. Riley II, the museum’s director.

“Dedicating funds to secure this tractor is a cost-effective solution that will ensure the beauty and ecological health of a historic county property for years to come,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I thank all of my partners in Nassau County government for making this possible.”
