Nassau Woman Intercepted $34.7K Check From Insurance Brokerage Firm: Police

The woman deposited the stolen money into an account she opened at a Glen Head bank, police say.

A woman stole $34,727.60 from an insurance brokerage firm and deposited the money into an account she opened at a Glen Head bank, Nassau County Police announced Monday.

According to authorities, Imani T. Tolley, 24, of Freeport, intercepted the check mailed from Cooper and McCloskey Incorporated of San Francisco and on Oct. 25 opened an account with the First National Bank in Glen Head. Police say she deposited the check into the account and proceeded to make withdrawals.

Tolley surrendered to detectives Monday at 7:05 a.m. in Westbury following an investigation. She was arrested and charged with grand larceny. Tolley will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
