New Brew Inspired By Glen Cove PD’s Men And Women In Blue
Noble Savage Brewing Company's Vienna-style lager Committed To Excellence will have a limited run as part of a fundraiser.

GLEN COVE, NY — Noble Savage Brewing Company will release Committed to Excellence, a Vienna-style lager inspired by the Glen Cove Police Department, as part of a fundraiser starting on Friday to mark the agency’s ongoing efforts in the city.
The little over 5% alcohol brew, which is the same name as the department’s motto, is described by Owner and Head Brewer Frank Bilello of Sea Cliff as a “crisp, flavorful, malt-forward beer that is sure to be a crowd pleaser.” It will have a limited run because the batch only contained two barrels, which amounts to about 11 kegs or "567 pours," but there are plans to brew once a year, Bilello said.
One dollar will be shaved off from the sale of every $7 glass or crowler, a 32-ounce can, in the tasting room, with the proceeds set aside for the police department’s brass to use “as they see fit,” either as a donation to the department for its ongoing efforts or to charities officers work with, Bilello said.

The fundraiser kicks off Friday inside Noble Savage’s tasting room on Glen Street at 3 p.m.
Bilello said he was inspired to develop the beer because the brewery is located about 200 feet from the department’s headquarters in downtown Glen Cove and he gets to see first-hand how the officers support the businesses downtown and he wanted to do something nice for them.

“I think that they do a great job,” said Billelo, explaining that officers can always be seen on patrol and they stop by businesses to let people know that they are there. “We are lucky to have our own police department; I think its more personal.”
Glen Cove Police Public Information officer Det. Lt. John Nagle was not immediately available for comment on this story.
Bilello plans a similar run dedicated to the local fire department this spring.
