Former MTV Execs to Buy Plum TV

LXTV co-founders Joseph Varet and Morgan Hertzan announced on Wednesday an agreement to purchase , a lifestyle network reaching more than 5 million of the most affluent viewers in the country across eight markets. Plum TV is currently distributed on cable television systems in the Hamptons, Miami, Aspen, Vail, Telluride, Sun Valley, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, at PlumTV.com, and on Plum TV’s video on demand iPhone app.

Long Island Comics Mourn Loss of Legend

"Humble," "loving" and "genuine" are words that came to mind when friends think of Vince Dantona. The beloved ventriloquist passed away last Monday at the age of 62. in Levittown held a gathering of local comedians Monday evening to honor him. Dantona made a name for himself and his sidekick, his ventriliquist dummy George, in the Long Island comedy scene after he returned from a 10-year stint in the Marine Corps.

DEC: East End Deer Take Holds Steady

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation has released deer harvest numbers, reporting that there was a steady deer take in 2011. On the East End, 546 deer were harvested in East Hampton, 462 in Riverhead, 142 on Shelter Island, 641 in Southampton and 382 in Southold. The numbers are up from 2010 in East Hampton, where 491 deer were harvested, and down in Riverhead, Shelter Island, Southampton and Southold.

Nassau Health Department Confirms School Stomach Bug Cases

The Nassau County Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed they are investigating a stomach bug that has been reported at in East Meadow.
