Glen Cove, NY, November 8, 2023 -- An informal group of North Shore Nassau County, Long Island pickleballers have come together to make noise, but not the kind you think.

They recently presented a check to regional food bank NOSH Delivers for over $15,000 ($15,241, to be exact) as the proceeds from their third annual Glen Cove tournament to raise funds aiding food-insecure residents of the North Shore. Many of the pickleballers serve double duty as volunteers with the food bank.

This year's tournament, held October 15 at Glen Cove's Stanco Park, brought in nearly twice the amount of last year's tourney and almost eight times what was raised in the inaugural 2021 event. The daylong program featured 128 donating players of all ages and skill levels, plus a number of player-substitutes and hundreds of spectators. Highlighting the event were sponsorships from area merchants and institutions, as well as professional pickleball equipment manufacturers, who all generously donated cash and/or merchandise to be raffled off during the day.

About NOSH Delivers!
Merchants and residents wishing to donate to NOSH Delivers don't have to wait for the annual fall pickleball tournaments, but may donate by visiting the site. NOSH Delivers brings meals with dignity, respect, and safety to the homes of families and individuals in need of assistance. NOSH volunteers deliver hundreds of “NOSH Bags” weekly to homes on the North Shore peninsula. Inside are emergency kits containing ingredients as fresh and nutritious as possible to prepare two meals for a family of four, with some larger households receiving more. The organization also provides a “supermarket” at its Glen Cove headquarters, where those in need may come in to select from available items.
