Farmers Set Up Shop in the City
Glen Cove's outdoor fresh foods market returns for its third season.
The parking lot behind the Glen Cove Public Library was transformed into an outdoor fresh food market on Sunday as the city kicked off the third season of its Village Square Farmers and Artisan Market.
Dozens of vendors selling fresh vegetables, seafood, fruits and more set up stands along the lot, which sits between Glen and Bridge streets.
The event, which is slated to run every Sunday from 7 a.m. to noon until Nov. 21, was co-coordinated by the Glen Cove's Downtown Business Improvement District (BID), a not-for-profit agency that aims to, among other things, establish initiatives that will help to revitalize the city's downtown business district, according to its Web site.

The market, organizers said, aims to provide residents with increased access to healthy foods as well as bring more shoppers to the city's downtown area.
