Glen Cove and Nassau County police say the 19-year-old driver was backing into a driveway, and the incident currently appears to be a tragic accident with no criminality, though the investigation continues.

• Neighboring beach club welcomes Atlantic Beach club members displaced by tornado damage (news12.com) — A Glen Cove resident is among those praising a neighboring Long Island beach club for opening its doors to members displaced after a tornado badly damaged the Sun and Surf Beach Club. New York Beach Club in Atlantic Beach is offering free admission to affected members while cleanup and repairs continue, with dozens already taking advantage. Sun and Surf hopes to reopen before summer ends.

• Survivors shine light on hidden human trafficking crisis on LI (news12.com) — Glen Cove–based Rep. Tom Suozzi is joining survivors in warning that human trafficking is a daily, often hidden crisis on Long Island, calling for stronger prevention beyond hotel signage laws. Survivors describe being coerced into labor and sex trafficking, while advocates push education, multilingual awareness campaigns, and coordinated enforcement against illegal operations. Officials hope better recognition of warning signs will help protect vulnerable residents.
