Patch Picks: Tired of big department store? Opt for a smaller more intimate boutique in the Glen Cove area. Choose from many designer name brands, get tanned and most importantly support local charities.  

  • – Looking for a special occasion outfit for either yourself or your little guy or girl? Wanda Brady of Nona Vega can help. Her boutique specializes in custom made dresses and tuxedo suits for both adults and kids. With a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Wanda delivers fully personalized pieces to her clients. Nona Vega is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Closed on Sundays.
  • – Who says boutiques are just for clothing and jewelry? Villagio Tanning is a known to be a “bronzing boutique,” which offers a full line of spa services. From airbrushing to tanning to massage therapy and eye lash extensions and teeth whitening, this “boutique” is sure to leave you rejuvenated and refreshed. Villagio Tanning is open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • – This boutique consignment shop offers the finest names in designer fashion, jewelry and accessories. The best part about shopping at thisboutique is simple: While you’ll find many high end brands such as Juicy Couture, Prada, Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Armani, Bvlgari and Louis Vuitton, many of the items are marked down 50 percent, and any of the items that are not sold are donated to local charities. Worth Repeating is open Tuesday, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • – This unique boutique doubles as a women’s crisis center and retail store selling gentle used dresses, coats, boots, shirts and pants all donated by members of the community or local stores, including J. Jill. All items are hand selected by owner Barbara Costello. At any given time you can find shirts for $2, sweaters for $5 and have the option to fill a 13 gallon sized bag for $10. Guardian Angel is opened Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • – Bennys of Glen Cove offers discounted clothing for men, women and children. It also carries a collection of large men's sizes from 2x to 5x. There is a wide-ranging selection of styles and sizes not easily found at the big department stores. There are also unique items like a full-length cashmere/blend men’s coat and a three-quarter-length variation with a leather collar, both at attractive prices. Bennys is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
