Besides teaching watercolor at the State University at Farmingdale, award-winning artist and Glen Head resident Chuck Van Horn is is part of with his eight-session workshop, "Mastering the Watercolor Technique."

Van Horn covered the process of presenting and preserving finished works with matting and framing during Monday night's class at .

Weekly, he covers various water techniques and critiques student work.

Van Horn said that he primarily teaches beginning-level students the fundamentals of watercolor from creating the perfect wash to achieve the illusion of distance and three dimensional objects.
