Review: Fatty Fish Serves Upscale Sushi in Glen Cove

Local restaurant offers traditional japanese cuisine without breaking the bank.

Overview: Fatty Fish boasts a wide selection of Japanese food to satisfy even the most experienced sushi lover. With an inviting and pleasant atmosphere, Fatty Fish provides a comfortable and upscale dining experience, but at very reasonable prices. They also have a sushi bar with a wide assortment of sushi choices.

Decor: The ambiance may lead you to believe that you are dining in midtown Manhattan. They have a sushi bar in the back and about fifteen other dimly lit tables as well as four outside, giving the patron a selection of dining options.

The Drinks: They have all of the normal selections of drinks like soda, spring water, orange juice, cranberry juice, apple juice, but with the addition of a Japanese marble soda. They also have a wide selection of wine and beer.

Appetizers: Hot appetizers includes seven piece Sashimi appetizers ($8.50), Kani Su ($5.50), crab meat & cucumber with vinegar sauce, Takosu ($7.50), sliced octopus in vinegar sauce, seafood dynamite ($8.00), Scallop, crab meat, mushroom, onion and caviar on shell, pepper tuna ($8.95), pepper tuna fillet marinated with black pepper in chef's special, scallop tartar ($9.95), and they feature a spicy tuna tartar ($9.95), chopped spicy tuna, avocado, with quail and special sauce.

Entrees: With a assortment of sushi mix and match combos and a wide assortment of specialized rolls and hand roll entrees, they offer a dinner bento box that includes: chicken teriyaki and a California roll, shrimp tempura, soup and salad ($17.95), and beef teriyaki, sushi, and shrimp tempura soup, salad and appetizer ($18.95), and also Salmon teriyaki, Sashimi, shrimp tempura, soup, salad and appetizer ($19.95).

Sides: "Sushi/Sashimi A La carte" section, which includes tuna ($5.00), salmon ($4.00), spicy tuna ($5.00), Alaska roll ($5.00), asparagus roll ($3.50), salmon, cucumber and avocado ($3.00), avocado cucumber roll ($4.00), California roll ($4.50), chicken tempura roll ($5.00), Florida roll ($6.00), fried oyster roll ($6.95), Las Vegas Roll ($5.00), Philadelphia roll ($4.50), and more.

Desserts: Fatty fish offer several dessert items: fried ice cream, made with homemade cakes on the outside with a dollop of whip cream ($5.00). They also have a fried cheese cake ($5.00), an assortment of ice cream including mochi ice cream that comes in green tea, red bean, mango or vanilla ($4.00).
