SAFE GC Coalition: January is Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Treatment Month

SUD Treatment Month is a national observance led by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote accessible, evidence-based treatment and recovery for SUDs, encouraging individuals, families, and providers to learn about effective options like medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and support services.

Key Goals & Activities:

• Raise Awareness: Highlight that SUDs are treatable health conditions, not moral failings, and that recovery is possible.
• Promote Treatment: Share information about various treatments, including medications (like MAT), and encourage people to find the path that works for them.
• Reduce Stigma: Combat negative stereotypes that prevent people from seeking help.
• Provide Resources: Offer toolkits, data, and links (like FindTreatment.gov) for individuals and providers.

How to Get Involved:

• Share Resources: Use toolkits and hashtags like #SUDTreatmentMonth, #TreatmentWorks, #RecoveryIsPossible on social media.
