SAFE Glen Cove Coalition: OASAS Launches New Program on Addiction

Each episode of New Hope, New Life with OASAS will feature important facts and information on substance abuse in NY communities.

The New York State of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services has launched an educational program called "New Hope, New Life with OASAS." This new education program won’t just be another survey of data being collected or a variety of fact sheets being presented at local community events. It will be featured on the NYS Combat Addiction website showing weekly episodes of important facts and information on substance use and abuse in New York communities.

The program will be a 30-minute discussion format series that helps New Yorkers understand alcohol and drug addiction as a disease and highlights where to help and where services can be found. Some of the topics that will be discussed throughout the program will be about new innovative treatment services, the stigma of addiction and the treatment options that are available locally.

Each week, the program will provide speakers who will discuss their experiences and knowledge dealing with alcohol and substance abuse, some with certified expertise in this area, as well as individuals in recovery. The program will be aired on major stations across New York to help anyone who may need assistance or knows someone who needs help but doesn’t know the right place to receive it. Utilizing this program it will aid in promoting education and awareness about alcohol and substance use.
