SAFE Hosts 12th Annual Family Awareness Day

SAFE's 12th annual family awareness day promoted family unity and a substance abuse free environment in Glen Cove.

SAFE’s Annual Family Awareness Day held at Morgan Park on June 13th, was created to promote family unity and a substance abuse free environment. Now in its 12th year, the free event once again had something for everyone. There were several vendors, carnival games, a bouncy castle, DJ, youth band and zumba dance.

Participating agencies and area businesses included: SAFE, Downtown Business Improvement District, the Glen Cove Youth Bureau, Glen Cove After 3 Program, Public Health Solutions, Crossfit One Life, Adrenaline Entertainment, Emblem Health, New York Life, Affinity Health Insurance, Catholic Charities Diocese of Rockville Center, Glen Cove Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Cub Scouts Pack 6, New York State Epic Medicare and Project Help LI.

A true carnival style event, children participated in games while eating popcorn and snow cones. The event promoted family togetherness and community involvement. SAFE disseminated alcohol and substance abuse prevention literature to help raise awareness in the community regarding youth drug and alcohol use.
