To the Editor,

From the day I took office as Mayor, I put my business experience to work for the betterment of Glen Cove. I’ve come up with incentives to save a small fortune over time on payroll and other expenses. I’ve managed to figure out how to stabilize our taxes so they don’t jump out of control like they did for so many years before I became Mayor. I’ve improved the quality of life in our City by going after landlords with illegal housing, even if they’re friends of mine. I may have lost a few friends in doing what I know is right for our city, but I’ve improved the quality of life for many, many more people, and I intend to continue doing that.

I promised you that Glen Cove would be reopened for business, and I’ve kept that promise with the opening of 30 new businesses that brought 250 new jobs to our city. I’ve reinvigorated projects that were dying on the vine. I’ve done what I said I would do, and I can still do more.

The successes we’ve had over the past 20 months, although unprecedented, are not complete.

Our Quality of Life initiative must continue as we aggressively pursue offenders. We will explore new legislation to assist us in our enforcement efforts and review our staffing and policies to ensure its continued success.

With the Waterfront and Piazza projects in full swing shortly, new residents will soon be contributing to our local economy while our friendly open for business approach will attract new commercial enterprises capable of providing all our residents’ needs within the boundaries of our city.

Our finances will continue to improve as the sale of the waterfront brings additional revenue which will stabilize our taxes for years to come and dramatically improve our financial position.

A rezoning of the Sea Cliff Avenue Corridor through a BOA grant will allow us to revitalize the properties in that area and provide highest and best use scenarios for the repurposing of the area.

When you elected me as your mayor, I promised I would do many things, and I’ve kept EVERY ONE of my promises. There’s more work to be done and if I’m re-elected I intend to continue on the same track – doing things that work, not just making promises that I cannot keep like my opponent is doing.

And that’s why I’m asking for your vote on Thursday, September 10, Primary Day? You’re my report card. I need you to go to the polls and fill it out. Please vote for me Thursday September 10 in the Republican, Independence and Conservative Primary at your regular polling location.

Thank you,

Reggie Spinello
