Tell Us: Is Your Child Opting Out of State Tests?

Tuesday begins the first day of state testing for New York public school students in grades 3-8.

On Long Island some families – though there is no official number of exactly how many – are choosing to opt out of this year's tests. Momentum against what's called "high stakes testing" appears to picking up. Saturday, March 29, for instance, saw an "iRefuse – The Great American Opt Out Rally" at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station that drew hundreds of supporters.

Others, however, feel testing is no big deal, or find that their kids want to take the test.
