Glen Cove is home to a variety of fitness centers to help residents get in shape this year.

Holiday feasting is over, and the new year is here. It's time to make those resolutions. If getting fit and being healthier is one of your resolutions for 2011, then Glen Cove is the place to be. With over a dozen fitness centers in the area, residents are bound to find something to help burn off those holiday calories.

Located across from the Glen Cove Cinemas in Village Square, Planet Fitness is open 24 hours during the week and offers a wide variety of cardio and strength training equipment. With trained and certified trainers on site, there is always someone available to assist members in reaching their weight or fitness goals. Free unlimited training is available to all members.

Formerly known as Island Fitness, this new and improved gym is popping up all over the East Coast. The Glen Cove location boasts over 20,000 square feet of space, featuring state of the art cardio and weight training equipment. Training sessions are also available to all members.

Bored of the traditional gym routine? Kick things up a notch with karate, kick boxing or a Zumba class at Gold Martial Arts.
