Updated: Man Falls 30 Feet in Truck Bucket Accident
Locust Valley man reported in stable condition following a 30-foot fall from truck bucket in Glen Cove.
A man fell about 30 feet on Sherwood Road Monday when the lift bucket he was in dropped to the ground, said Glen Cove police.
Melvin Villalobos of Locust Valley was airlifted to North Shore Manhasset Hospital following the 10 a.m. accident, where he appeared incoherent at the scene. His injuries currently do not appear serious, and he may be released today, according to hospital staff.
Villalobos, who works for Green Mansion Tree Service, was reportedly pruning trees at 24 Sherwood Road when the piston, or arm, of the bucket broke, sending him to the ground while remaining inside the bucket.

Several LIPA emergency vehicles were last seen in front of the private residence around 1:30 p.m.
Police say there is no criminal investigation, and no summonses issued.
