Chef Yadiyah Letellier Visits Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club hosted alumni Yadiyah Letellier, a gifted chef, athlete and personal trainer, for a very special event on Friday, February 22. Chef Letellier spent the afternoon with Club members sharing his love for nutrition, exercise and his passion for life. Rising Tide of Glen Cove shared in the wholesome afternoon by provided healthy nourishment and snacks.
Health and Life Skills and Sports, Fitness and Recreation are key components of the Club’s programs and services. Chef Letellier and his team devised a wonderful and fun filled fitness plan for the kids that was animated and entertaining while providing all the benefits of exercise. “It was super cool, and didn’t feel like we were even exercising,” said Joey C, 8 years old. The workout session included a series of warm ups, cardio, stretches and dynamic and interesting games. Rising Tide, a valuable supporter and friend of the Club, offered fresh fruit and energy bars to keep the kids well sustained and hydrated to keep up their strength during and after the exercise routine.
Chef Letellier, who joined the Club in the seventh grade, shared the many disciplines and values he learned as a youth. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he spent his formidable years in Glen Cove. He originally joined the Club to play sports and receive homework help but soon found his sense of independence and love for cooking. Chef Letellier, who grew up in a large family, always had a flair for cooking but it wasn’t until in his junior year in high school that realized that his passion could become his future profession. He quickly enrolled in BOCES to learn basic cooking skills. After High School, he attended Monroe College and graduated with an Associate Degree in Baking & Pastry. He went onto Johnson & Wales University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Service Management. Soon after graduation, Chef Letellier headed to Peru to hone his skills. Upon his return, he decided to become an entrepreneur by combining his love for sports and culinary talents to establish All Eats, LLC, a successful meal planning and personal training company.
