President Street Block Party Returns To Gowanus After More Than 20 Years

BROOKLYN, NY — A Gowanus neighborhood is bringing back a community tradition this Saturday with the President Street Block Party, marking the first time in more than 20 years that President Street between 3rd Avenue and Nevins Street will be closed for a neighborhood celebration.

Hosted by the Neighbors of Dolly’s Park in partnership with Brodsky, the free event will run from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 12.

Organized by a local resident at Brodsky’s new residential community at 499 President, the gathering will feature family-friendly activities and opportunities for neighbors to connect.

What to expect

• Community swap: Bring a book or puzzle and exchange it for another.
• Family activities: Street splash pad, sidewalk chalk art and temporary tattoos.
• Green spaces: Interactive herb-planting stations for all ages.
• Local eats: A neighborhood ice cream truck will be on-site.
