Sunny's Bar Will Host Art Auction To Stave Off Sale
Fundraising efforts continue to save the classic Brooklyn watering hole.
RED HOOK, BROOKLYN — Sunny's Bar in Red Hook will host an art auction Monday as part of a widespread fundraising effort to save the bar from a sale.
The auction is Monday, May 1, at 6 p.m. at the bar and is being run by 501 Auctions. "Numerous artists who love Sunny's" have donated artwork to the cause, the bar says on its website.
Sunny's owner Tone Balzano Johansen needs to raise $65,000 for a down payment on the bar by July 31. If she doesn't, her other family members plan to sell it off.

So far, she's raised raised nearly $35,000, according to a website set up to track the funding. There, you can see a calendar of upcoming fundraisers and donate yourself via Venmo.
Other upcoming events include a Mother's Day gift raffle, Cinco de Mayo party and Kentucky Derby party.
