The Iron Mule Short Comedy Screening Series was founded in April, 2002, and has been screening monthly ever since (with the exception of a hiatus during the pandemic, natch!) at various venues in NYC. In October, Iron Mule moves to Asylum NYC on 24th street.
In our 24 years we have presented more than 2,000 short comedy films from around the world, including early work from many celebrated filmmakers and comedians — we don't really like dropping names but here are some of them: Stephen Colbert, Lena Dunham, Dan Harmon, Aziz Ansari.
We are a collective of filmmakers and film lovers who meet monthly to celebrate funny and inventive short cinema. Hosts Jay Stern (Director & film professor) and Victor Varnado (actor, comedian & CEO Supreme Robot) interview attending filmmakers during the show, and each screening is followed by an after-party known for excellent casual schmoozing with the filmamakers. In addition, Iron Mule produces the “Wanna Be A Star” contest, in which an audience member is chosen to star in a new film directed by an Iron Mule filmmaker to be shown at the following month’s screening.
Note: Tickets are required, available on ironmulefest.com and are only $20.
