DeGlopper received the Medal of Honor posthumously for sacrificing himself to protect fellow soldiers in Normandy during World War II. His hometown now honors him with DeGlopper Memorial Park, a dedicated church ceremony site, and his burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, ensuring residents can remember his courage close to home.
