Great Neck Weekend Softball Players compete in the annual Labor Day Home Run Derby. Distances are adjusted according to age. Starting at age 50, distances are shortened approximately 25 feet for each decade of age. A participant may select any pitcher he or she desires. Round one consists of 7 pitches. If a Home Run is hit on the last at bat, the player continues until an "out" is made. Leaders of Round one advance to the 2nd round playoff. This is free to all GNSB members. The day starts off at 8:00am with local opera singer Sandia Ang singing our National Anthem. A two hour softball game is then followed by the HR Derby.
