No. 1 is among seven Long Island volunteer departments sharing nearly $2 million in new state grants for facilities and equipment. The funding, part of Gov. Hochul's V-FIRE program, will help local companies replace aging, big-ticket gear as call volumes rise and volunteer ranks shrink, easing pressure on community budgets.
