Lesser has served as a commissioner of the district for the past 15 years, and was its chairperson for five years.

Deena Lesser was sworn in for her fifth-term as Great Neck Water Pollution Control District commissioner in the presence of District Superintendent Chris Murphy and the elected board of commissioners, the district announced Tuesday.

As a commissioner, Lesser is responsible for providing leadership regarding the GNWPCD’s facility – making decisions that protect the environment by improving water quality.

"The district has accomplished a great deal in the last three years and I am very excited to once again serve the Great Neck community,” Lesser, a 50-year resident of Great Neck, stated.
