Furman Film Series; Summer Concert
Some happenings in and around Port Washington this week.

Furman Film Series: The Furman Film Series presents Haute Cuisine on Aug. 22. Based on the incredible true story of President François Mitterrand’s private chef, the film is the French culinary Cinderalla tale that caters to the human spirit as much as the taste buds. The Furman Film Series previews the best new independent films and studio releases, followed by Q&As with filmmakers and industry professionals. Call (516) 829-2570 or purchase online. Funday Monday: The Town of North Hempstead presents, “Pirates of The Gold Coast.” Come sail the Great Gold Coast with CD Rocks Entertainment. The free event runs Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Hempstead Beach park. For more information call 311 or 516-869-6311.
Plaza Summer Concert Series: Broadway enthusiasts are encouraged to enjoy the voice of Jill Wasserman, aka 'JC Diva Revue,' as she performs some of your favorite classics hits from the silver screen to the great white way at Firman's Park on Firefighters' Park on Aug. 21.
