'Gatsby' Ball Coming to Nassau Art Museum
Long Island Culture: Major fund raiser to have Roaring 20s feel.

The Great Gatsby,Β theΒ Nassau County Museum of Artβs 2013 Museum Ball, celebrates the glamorous Gold Coast era immortalized in F. Scott Fitzgeraldβs novel.
In the spirit of the classic work and the new Baz Luhrmann film, the Museum Ball, through dΓ©cor and the attire of guests, will evoke the Roaring 20s of fabulous parties and conspicuous wealth on Long Islandβs North Shore. The event will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 7 p.m., is set for the museumβs own historic Gold Coast mansion, the former Frick Estate,Β Clayton.Β The black tie evening includesΒ dining and dancing to the music of The Alex Donner Orchestra. A silent auction is also planned for the museum's major annual fundraiser.
- Cost:Β $1,000 per person at the "Patron" level, $500 per person at the "Friend" level and $350 per person at the "Junior" level (ages 40 and under). All but $200 of each ticket price is tax deductible.

An Orchestral Celebration of the Romantics at Tilles Center
The New York Philharmonic will offer a performance of Romantic music at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at the Tilles Center.Β
Conductors Alan Gilbert and Joshua Weilerstein will perform Mussorgsky's Prelude to Khovanshchina, Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 1 with violinist Lisa Batiashvili, and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "PathΓ©tique."Β
