Classes and programs are held after school, and on weekends. The Gold Coast Arts Center also offers a Vacation Arts program, which is perfect for times when schools are closed for extended periods, such as holiday breaks. Please check the catalog for specific courses and schedules. The full catalog, with pricing details, can be viewed or downloaded at http://goldcoastarts.org/school-for-the-arts/fall-2017-classes/.
Art aficionados will appreciate this year’s catalog’s cover, which depicts a painting by the prominent American Pop artist James Rosenquist (1933–2017), who received the Center’s Artist of Distinction Award in 2010. Rosenquist gained acclaim in the 1960s as a leading American Pop artist who, along with contemporaries like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, radically changed the face of the art world. In 1997, Rosenquist donated an exhibit of his monumental oil paintings to the new gallery of the fledgling Gold Coast Arts Center (then known as the Great Neck Arts Center).
