Niche.com has released its 2016 ”Best Public High Schools in America” list, with 29 Long Island schools among the top 100 in New York.

The top ranked school in New York is Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan. The first Long Island school on the list is Jericho Senior High School, which ranked No. 3 in the state and No. 13 nationwide.

Right behind Jericho is Great Neck South High School ranked No. 5 in the state and No. 23 nationwide. The school moved up in rankings from No. 7 in 2015 to No. 5 in 2016.

Great Neck North High School is ranked No. 26 in the state. GNN dropped from No. 23 in 2015 to No. 26 in 2016.

Overall, Long Island schools took a dip in the rankings compared to Niche’s 2015 list, which included 35 Long Island high schools among the top 100 in New York.

“The school is great and helps you for the future,” a GNS student wrote in a review of the school on Niche. “The students are always trying to be better than others by any means necessary.”
