A Great Neck man has been arrested for breaking into The Brown Academy, a tutoring company on Northern Boulevard, police said.
GREAT NECK, NY — A Great Neck man has been arrested for breaking into a Great Neck tutoring academy and rummaging around in an office, Nassau County police said Thursday.
Police said that David Mintz, 38, broke into the Brown Academy on Tuesday, rummaged through some items and then ran away. A woman arrived at the school, which holds courses for students taking standardized tests like the SAT, at about 11 a.m. Tuesday and discovered that a lock preventing access to the door of her front office was damaged, and when she reviewed her security camera footage, she saw a man “forcibly enter multiple rooms and rummage through office items,” police stated in a news release.
Detectives reviewing the security footage recognized Mintz from prior incidents, and later arrested him at his home, police said. He has been charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, misdemeanor. If convicted, Mintz, who was arraigned on Wednesday in Mineola, faces up to 25 years in a state prison.
