Great Neck Men Caught Selling Marijuana Resisted Arrest: Police
Police say an officer suffered abrasions, bruising and pain to his hand, knee and elbow from the incident.
A Great Neck man who was seen selling marijuana caused an officer injuries after he resisted arrest early Saturday morning, police say.
According to authorities, officers conducted intensive patrols in plainclothes in the Great Neck area in response to community complaints regarding drug sales. Police say they saw a hand-to-hand drug transaction in front of Rite Aid, located at 46 Great Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza, and subsequently attempted to arrest Corey Howell, 21, at 12:50 a.m.
Police say Howell ignored lawful orders and resisted arrest by flailing his arms and pushing an officer as he attempted to run away. The officer suffered abrasions, bruising and pain to his hand, knee and elbow.

Howell was eventually arrested and a search of his vehicle revealed a substance believed to be marijuana, non-odor drug bags, a scale and more than $3,500 in cash, police say. He was charged with second-degree assault, possession of a forged instrument, criminal sale of marijuana, obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest and criminal possession of marijuana.
He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
