Great Neck Resident Robbed Man, Struck Him With Belt Buckle: Police

The robbery occurred Friday night, police say.

A Great Neck man was arrested Friday night for robbing, punching and hitting another man with the head of a belt buckle Friday night, police say.

According to authorities, Rony Fernando Inestroza, 26, approached a 43-year-old man near the rear of Deli on The Green, located at 647 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck, and punched him in the stomach at 8:15 p.m.

Police say Inestroza then removed his belt and struck the man with the head of the buckle, causing him to fall to the ground and his cell phone to fall out of his pocket. Inestroza fled the scene with the phone, police say.

The victim, who refused medical attention, told detectives he knew the robber from the area and possibly where he lived.

Inestroza was later placed under arrest at his home and charged with first-degree robbery. He was additionally charged with second-degree menacing for an unrelated incident that occurred on Friday, Jan. 13 in Great Neck. He was arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
