GREAT NECK, NY--Great Neck residents approved a 2019-20 school budget on Tuesday.

The $234,418,944 proposed budget was approved by a margin of 1,289-256. The budget is a 1.99 percent increase from the current year's. It's accompanied by a 1.94 percent bump in the tax levy. That is well below the district's 4.09 percent tax levy cap, so the budget only needed to be approved by a majority vote.

Donna Peirez, an incumbent school board trustee, ran unopposed and was re-elected with 1,227 votes.
