Great Neck Singer Advances on 'The Voice'

Great Neck singer Michelle Raitzin has advanced to the next round of “The Voice.”

During the fifth night of blind auditions, the pop-rocker performed the song, “Bless The Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts, which impressed coach Blake Shelton who chose her for his team Monday. Raitzin now advances to the knockout rounds of the NBC show.

On her website, Raitzin said she started her vocal career at the age of 10, following in the footsteps of her great uncle Misha Raitzin, who was a principal tenor at the Metropolitan Opera House in NYC.

As a junior at Great Neck South in 2010, Raitzin won $10,000 for her school by finishing first in WOR radio's "Shining Star" competition.

Raitzin, a 21-year-old Berkley College of Music student was a featured guest recently at the Great Neck Arts Center for Long Island's "Big Break" talent contest.
